Description
All over America, Native American students are routinely and erroneously stripped of their rights to don feathers at their graduation ceremonies. Though these feathers are presented in honor of the success and resilience of these students, and though they have successfully travailed through academic institutions built in opposition to them, these students rights as Indigenous people are violated. Recently, a Lumbee student at Lumberton High School stood in line to graduate and a teacher approached her and tore the feathers off of her cap. This teacher is not unique. She will likely remain in her position. Though we cannot bring the teacher to justice, we can provide some comfort and recognition to the student. 100% of all proceeds of this shirt for the month of June and July will go to this student.
